Name Givings
As a mum to 4 young children, I enjoy being invited to plan name giving celebrations. A name giving is a secular ceremony chosen by many parents as an alternative or a precursor to baptism in a church. They believe their children can make more meaningful promises about their faith when they reach adulthood. I delight in these occasions, when families gather to celebrate the arrival of a new member and to affirm the roles of grandparents and those chosen as godparents or mentors. Many a good wedding includes a name-giving!
